Corded or cordless
Corded saws hold full power through long ripping sessions and cost less for the same performance. Cordless wins when the work moves — installs, remodels and sheet breakdowns far from an outlet. If you go cordless, a bare tool is only a deal if you already own the batteries.
Is the rail included?
A track saw without a rail is a regular plunge saw. Several listings here — DeWalt DWS520K, Bosch, WEN, Triton and the bare-tool cordless models — do not include one. Add the rail cost before you compare prices, and pick a rail length that covers your longest cut: 55 inches handles most 4x8 sheet crosscuts, while long rips want two joined rails or a 100-inch-plus track.
Blade and track compatibility
Most 6½-inch track saws share a blade pattern and can run on each other’s tracks, with a couple of exceptions: Festool’s 6¼-inch blades are specific to its saws, and Kreg’s track profile is its own. If you already own rails, check the fit before switching brands.
